If you are a native to Sussex County, you have undoubtedly noticed the recent changes that are altering what life is like in our once RURAL communities. Even if you are a transplant, that moved to our county twenty years ago, you likely came here, in part, to enjoy the serenity of our beaches in the off-season, the vast forests and many agricultural areas that made “Slower-Lower” Delaware a very special place to live.
Unfortunately, the Over Development of our once cherished natural environment is increasing in both speed and magnitude. Now, vast swaths of pine forests are being bulldozed in a matter of weeks, fields are excavated and paved almost overnight, and the peaceful lifestyle once enjoyed by locals and visitors alike is being destroyed.
An unprecedented 637 acres of forests and farmland that sits in the middle of a preservation area are being targeted by Carl M Freeman to build the 4th LARGEST CITY in all of Sussex County! A petition has been started by Sussex Preservation Coalition to prevent a change in zoning from AR1, which is an Agricultural / Residential zone to a high-density, mixed use CITY!
Read the information below on the many negative impacts this project would have on our community and sign the petition TODAY! And remember, ALL NEARBY property owners HAVE PROPERTY RIGHTS and also have standing in any action against the developer.
It is imperative that you make your voice heard and make sure that YOUR ELECTED PUBLIC SERVANTS ON SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL REPRESENT YOUR INTERESTS and NOT JUST THE FINANCIAL INTERESTS OF ONE WEALTHY DEVELOPER!
